Paths-Jesus said he was the way

Two contrasting views.

● There are many paths to God: Our world

● There is only one path to God: Jesus

Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?” 6 Jesusanswered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If youreally know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”John 14:5-7

“These exclusive words of Jesus are not a threat rooted in anger but an invitation rooted in his love.”

● Jesus’ words are ________________ rather than ________________.

The significance of Jesus’s words:

● It’s not ____________ you know.

● It’s now what you _________.

● It’s ____________ you know.

“It’s always been about the who rather than the what and the do.

“All truth is God’s truth, as all life is God’s life; but God’s Truth and God’s life are incarnate in Jesus.” Bruce

Properly understood, removing Jesus as the way to God does not provide a gift of inclusion to the world, butremoves an understanding of God’s loving character.

So, what’s next?

For those of you who already follow Jesus.

1. Be ________________!

2. Be ________________.

● When people see my life, what do they see?

For the rest of us.

1. Be ________________.

This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of thetruth. 5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gavehimself as a ransom for all people. 1 Timothy 2:3-6
