Lead Like Jesus-The Temptation To Be Relevant

Too often we are tempted to seek relevancy in what we do, what we own, or who we know. What if our relevancy was based in Christ rather than everything else around us? How would that change us?

“Leadership is influence. Nothing more. Nothing less.” John Maxwell

You are influencing someone somewhere.

  • Does my leadership influence people to know Jesus?
  • Do I lead like Jesus?

Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, left the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, 2 where for forty dayshe was tempted by the devil. He ate nothing during those days, and at the end of them he was hungry. 3 Thedevil said to him, “If you are the Son of God, tell this stone to become bread.” 4 Jesus answered, “It is written:‘ Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God. Luke 4:1-4

Life’s greatest temptations:

  1. The temptation to be ______________.

“We are made to believe that we are what we produce.” Henri Nouwen

The enemy was testing Jesus to see if he would use his ______________ to satisfy his ______________.

The enemy will test you to see if you will use your ______________ to satisfy your ______________.

For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, comes not from the Father but from the world. 1 John 2:16

Today’s bottom line:

  • My ______________ is based on my ______________ on Christ.
  • Nothing else matters.

Today’s application:

  • It all comes down to the intake of your life.
  • What is it that feeds your relevancy?

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. Matthew 5:6
