Lead Like Jesus-The Temptation To Be Spectacular // Week #3

March 5, 2023

Where have you tried to impress others in your life?

“Leadership is influence. Nothing more. Nothing less.” John Maxwell

You are influencing someone somewhere.

  • Does my leadership influence people to know Jesus?
  • Do I lead like Jesus?

The devil led him to Jerusalem and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down from here. 10 For it is written “‘He will command his angels concerning you to guard you carefully; 11 they will lift you up in their hands so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’” 12 Jesus answered, “It is said: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’” 13 When the devil had finished all this tempting, he left him until an opportune time. Luke 4:9-13

“Jesus’ hunger was greatest and his resistance lowest.” Lee Strobel

Life’s greatest temptations:

  1. The temptation to be _______________.

               ● The temptation to be _______________.

“The best lie begins with a slight omission or a twisting of what is True.”

For everything in the world—the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. 1 John 2:16

“To take the bait would leave us without hope.” Tony Evans

My goal is not to impress others with what I have or what I do, but to be humbled by what Jesus has already given to me and what He has already done for me.

The call of Jesus is to be humble rather than impressive.

To lead like Jesus:

  1. I must lean into _______________ and lean away from _______________.
  2. I must lean into _______________ and _______________.

Questions to ask yourself.

  1. Who are you trying to impress?
  2. Where are you trying to impress?
  3. Why are you trying to impress?

It costs something to be a true Christian. Let that never be forgotten. To be a mere nominal Christian and to go to church is cheap and easy work. But to hear Christ’s voice, follow Christ, believe Christ, and confess Christ, requires much self-denial. J.C. Ryle
