I'm Not Okay // Isolation // Message Notes

September 26, 2021

Here are the notes to Pastor Steve’s message for week #2 of “I’m Not Okay” on Sunday, September 26, 2021. Feel free to print them and follow along during the message at 10:00 a.m on Facebook and YouTube.

“The peace Jesus is talking about is not the cessation of hostilities from enemies, but rather the gift of calmness and confidence that comes from union with God and faith in him and his purposes.”  Rodney Whitacre

Last week’s main ideas:

  1. All of us are __________  __________ .
  • I’m not okay.
  • 2__________  __________ had moments of not being okay.

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”  John 16:33

Today’s key thoughts:

  1. I’m not okay, __________  __________.
  2. I’m not okay, but it’s not okay to __________  __________.

The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are attentive to their cry;  16 but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil, to blot out their name from the earth.  17 The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them, he delivers them from all their troubles.  18 The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. 19 The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all;  20 he protects all his bones,  not one of them will be broken.  Psalm 34:15-20

“Ultimately what God wants from us is an admission of not being ok and actions that move us to be more like His Son Jesus.”  Steve Gill

Questions for personal application:

  1. What is God trying to teach you through this brokenness?
  2. What does God want you to do through the brokenness?

“It’s okay not to be okay—but it’s not okay to stay there. If you create an environment where it’s okay not to be okay, you create an environment where the gospel is breathed in and out constantly.  We want to constantly drive people back to the cross” Matt Chandler
