For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son Jesus... John 3:16

● Who does ___________ love?

● Whom am ____ called to love?

For the LOVE

● God loves the ___onely

● God loves the ___verwhelmed

On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. “Teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inheriteternal life?” 26 “What is written in the Law?” he replied. “How do you read it?” 27 He answered, “‘Love theLord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’[c];and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” 28 “You have answered correctly,” Jesus replied. “Do this and you willlive.” 29 But he wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?”30 In reply Jesus said: “Aman was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he was attacked by robbers. They stripped him of hisclothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. 31 A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. 32 So too, a Levite, when he came to the place andsaw him, passed by on the other side. Luke 10:25-32

When Jesus makes him reveal his own summary, and then simply agrees with it, the lawyer now aims ‘to win thepoint,’ ‘to justify himself’—not simply meaning ‘to show that he hadn’t asked a trivial or obvious question,’ but‘to come out on top in this public confrontation.’ N.T. Wright

A question to think through:

● What do people see when they see me?

● When people see me, do they see ___________ or ___________?

Questions to ask yourself:

1. Who do you ___________?

2. Who do you pass by ___________ someone else will help?

3. What will you ____ ___________ the ___________ ___________you want to pass by?

The bottom line from Jesus is this. “Your neighbor” is anyone who needs your help.
