A Better Way Of Living-The Tension Of Balance January 16th, 2022

A Better Way Of Living happens when: I live with ____________.

● The balance of ____________.

But you did not honor the God who holds in his hand your life and all your ways. 24 Therefore he sent the hand that wrote the inscription. 25 “This is the inscription that was written: mene, mene, tekel, parsin. 26 “Here is what these words mean: Mene: God has numbered the days of your reign and brought it to an end. 27 Tekel: You have been weighed on the scales and found wanting. Daniel 5:23-27

What does it take to have balance?

1. Balance is living with ____________.

2. Balance is living with ____________ ____________.

And I saw that all toil and all achievement spring from one person’s envy of another. 5 Fools fold their hands and ruin themselves. 6 Better one handful with tranquillity than two handfuls with toil and chasing after the wind. Ecclesiastes 4:4-6

Imbalance comes from flawed desires.

● I wish I had ________.

● I wish I had their ___________.

● “My wanting is a result of your having.”

A question for reflection:

● Where do I need to do less in my life?

Better a little with righteousness than much gain with injustice. Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Proverbs 16:8, 15-16 (ESV)

“Hurry kills relationships. Love takes time; hurry doesn’t have it. It kills joy, gratitude, appreciation; people in a rush don’t have time to enter the goodness of the moment. It kills wisdom; wisdom is born in the quiet, the slow. Wisdom has its own pace. It makes you wait for it-wait for the inner voice to come to the surface of your tempestuous mind, but not until waters of thought settle. Hurry kills all that we hold dear; spiritually, health, marriage, family, thoughtful work, creativity, generosity...name your value. Hurry is a sociopathic predator loose in our society.” John Mark Comer

How do I know what is wise or unwise?

● Does this use of my time ____________ ____________ or ____________ ____________ ____________?
