“I believe in God the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.” The Apostle’s Creed

Today’s key idea: Everything got started with _______________.

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Genesis 1:1

In the beginning, the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He existed in the beginning with God. John 1:1-2

Everything started with God means:

1. God _______________.

● God is _______________ _______________.

“God’s aseity is his existence from himself; that is, he exists without influence or input or resources or forces or anything from outside himself. The biblical picture of God is that he is complete and sufficient and flawless, and without any defect or deficiency in and of himself. That means before there was any creation, and apart from any creation, and independent of any creation, God was completely and flawlessly God.” Desiring God

God existed before the beginning that led to all other beginnings.

Everything started with God means:

2. God _______________.

Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. Genesis 1:3“He commands nothingness and it obeys and becomes something.” John Piper“ For us, something from something can lead to something more creative. However, it always requires something. For God, something came from nothing and it led to something amazing and creative.”

Everything started with God means:

3. God purposed.

So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. Genesis 1:27

Then the Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground. He breathed the breath of life into the man’s nostrils, and the man became a living person. Genesis 2:7

“Everything has value and meaning as implied by the doctrine of creation.” Kenneth Sample
