57% of Americans say they know only some or none of their neighbors. ~The Pew Research Center

What is an everyday disciple?

● A disciple is someone who looks like Jesus and lives like Jesus every day and in every way.

● A disciple is someone who looks like Jesus and lives like Jesus in their __________.

What Scripture says about being a neighbor.

● A neighbor nearby is better than a brother far away. Proverbs 27:10

● Love does no wrong to a neighbor. Romans 13:10● Love your neighbor as yourself. Mark 12:31

“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer

good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. Matthew 5:13

Being an everyday disciple means this;

1. I’m called to __________ __________ to my neighbors.

2. I’m called to__________ __________ to my neighbors.

“Until my conversion in 1975, I professed to be an atheist in part because I looked at the roughly 85 percent of my fellow U.S. citizens who claimed to be Christians and could not see that their faith genuinely affected their lives. I reasoned that if even Christians did not believe in Jesus' teachings, why should I? My excuse for unbelief-and the excuse of many other secularists I knew-continued until God's Spirit confronted me with the reality that the truth of Christ does not rise or fall on the claims of his professed followers but on Jesus himself. The faith of nominal Christians may appeal to non-Christians who can use it to justify their own unbelief, but such "Christians" will have no part in God's kingdom. Instead, they will be thrown out and trampled (5:13).(InterVarsity Press)

Something to think about:

● Do I add __________ to my neighbors?

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:14-16
