What, are you crazy?

Have you ever said something to someone and they gave you that look? They may have never said a single word, but that look.  It said, 'what?'  It was like,  'what are you talking about?'  Maybe, 'what, you can't be serious!' Possibly, 'what, are you crazy?'

Do you have that picture in your mind?  Good-keep it there!

That is the look that I received many times during the parade last Saturday. 'What?'  If you didn't get a chance to see all that we did, make sure you jump over to our #dosomething page and take a peek.  In a nutshell, we wanted one of our first initiatives in our community to be about giving.   Jesus gave it all!  People have given to Turning Point!  We wanted to give. So, we gave away money!  No, we aren't crazy!  We really felt like it was a 'God idea'.

So, when I would hand that envelope to someone in the crowd I would say something.  It had to be quick and direct.  I'd say something like this, 'hey, there is a gift on the inside that we hope you will use to help someone else.' Then the look came-'What?'  I'd even try this one.  'There is a money gift on the inside of this envelope.  We hope you will help someone in need with it.' Here comes the look.  I can see it.  He's processing.  It's almost there on their face.  There-'What in the world?'

It was incredible to watch!  Why?  That normally doesn't happen.  People don't do that regularly.  Churches don't do that.  Sometimes i don't do that! It's not our natural inclination!  But thank God Jesus is giving.  Has always been giving.  He will always be giving.  And we want to be like Jesus.

And when people see other people that are giving, with no strings attached, it turns heads.  It makes a person pause.  It makes people think.

We believe, in the long run, that it points people to Jesus!  So, we are going to do whatever we can to point people to Jesus.  Will you do the same?

A Core Value-'We will be people who give generously of their time, talent and finances to serve others because Jesus generously gave everything for us.
