We are outwardly focused.

What are we about as a church? Great question.  This past week at our gathering we talked about what it means to be outwardly focused!

As a church that means that:

We will purposely serve and reach out to those who are far from God.

 What does that look like?

1.  God loves people far from Him and so should we.

“For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost.” Luke 19:10

Jesus replied, "If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching.”   John 14:23

Reflection question:  Do I really love people who are far from God?

 2.  God pursues people far from Him and so should we!

God shows us how he pursues us and how we are to pursue others.

So he got up and went to his father. "But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.”   Luke 15:20

Reflection Question:  Do I pursue people far from God like Jesus does?  Why or why not?

3.  God prioritizes people far from Him and so should we!

I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.   Luke 15:7

"'My son,' the father said, 'you are always with me, and everything I have is yours.  But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.'"  Luke 15:31-32

Reflection Question:  Do I prioritize people in my life far from God like Jesus does?  Why or why not?

Next Week:  What it means to be relationally connected!
